FEMMA started an English training course for ethnic minority women

With the aim of improving community capacity in general, and improving English proficiency for ethnic minority women in particular, towards the development of local community-based tourism, FEMMA in collaboration with Yen Bai Provincial Farmers’ Association organized the online opening ceremony of  English training course for ethnic minority women in La Pan Tan commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province on April 24, 2023.

The ceremony welcomed the appearance of  Mr. Giang A Cau, Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial Farmers’ Association; Ms. Sung Thi My, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Mu Cang Chai district; Mr. Giang A Sau, Chairman of the People’s Committee of La Pan Tan commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province; Mr. Hang Xay Chong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of La Pan Tan Commune, Mu Cang Chai District; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Viet Khanh, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University; Dr. Bui Thi Huong Giang, Director of FEMMA; volunteer lecturers and all students in La Pan Tan commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Viet Khanh, Vice President of Thai Nguyen University affirmed Thai Nguyen University’s concern and priority in activities to promote gender equality and improve community capacity. In the past time, with the approval of Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee and the facilitation of local authorities, Yen Bai Provincial Farmers’ Association, Thai Nguyen University and FEMMA successfully implemented a number of important tasks aiming to improve leadership skills and mainstream gender in localities in Yen Bai province. Vice President of Thai Nguyen University highly appreciated the role of the English training course for ethnic minority women in La Pan Tan commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province in the development of community tourism, improving the lives of people in La Pan Tan commune in particular and Yen Bai province in general. He also believed that from the first bright spots, these activities will be spread and replicated in the near future.

On behalf of FEMMA, Dr. Bui Thi Huong Giang expressed the gratefulness to the attention and support of the Party Committee and local authorities at all levels for the construction of the training course. She hoped that in the coming time, the volunteer lecturers and all students will overcome difficulties together, uphold the spirit of self-discipline, and actively strive to achieve the highest learning results.

Tourism English training course for ethnic minority women in La Pan Tan commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province is the first activity after the launch of a network of ethnic minority and mountainous female leaders – which is one of the key initiatives and outcomes of a community capacity building project run by FEMMA, funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives. The class will start from May 2023 with 30 ethnic minority female students and some others if possible.
