Dissemination workshop of the project “Promoting leadership and gender mainstreaming skills through training workshops and implementation of action plans in 03 mountainous communes of Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province”

With the consent of the Party Committee, the People’s Committee of Yen Bai province, Tram Tau district and the support of the Party Committee, the People’s Committee of Hat Luu commune, within the framework of the project to improve community capacity, namely “Promoting leadership and gender mainstreaming skills through training workshops and implementation of action plans in 03 mountainous communes of Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province”, on October 13, 2023, at the People’s Committee of Hat Luu commune, FEMMA in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam and Yen Bai Provincial Farmers’ Association organized the Dissemination workshop of the project.

The Workshop welcomed the attendance of H.E. Mr. Aldo De Luca, Charge d’affaires a.i. of Switzerland in Vietnam; Dr. Bui Thi Huong Giang – Director of FEMMA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dien – Senior expert; Mr. Giang A Cau – Member of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial Farmers’ Association; Khang A Chua, Vice-Chairman of the People Committee of Tram Tau district; Mr. Vu Dang Quynh – Chairman of the Farmers’ Association of Tram Tau district; leaders of the Party Committee, People’s Committee; and all 90 trainees from Hat Luu, Ban Cong and Xa Ho commune.

At the opening of the workshop, Dr. Bui Thi Huong Giang reported the results of the project implementation in the locality. The project “Promoting leadership and gender mainstreaming skills through training workshops and implementation of action plans in 03 mountainous communes of Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province”, was implemented from July to October 2023 with the goal of equipping and improving leadership capacity and gender mainstreaming skills for male and female leaders, especially female ethnic minority leaders, guiding the implementation of action plans and establishing a network of female leaders in ethnic minority areas. After 4 months of implementation in Ban Cong, Xa Ho, Hat Luu communes, the project has created many positive changes in localities with 03 training courses attracting 90 ethnic minority trainees; 18 group action plans, 35 individual action plans of participants; 01 dissemination workshop. From the initial achievements, the Organizing Committee aims to achieve sustainable goals that about 1.500 ethnic minorities will get benefits from the project, at least 60 female ethnic minority leaders will apply their trained knowledge and skills effectively, thereby increasing the percentage of female leaders and eliminating gender stereotypes in the locality.

Most of the remained time of the workshop was spent for 18 action plan reports from groups of trainees, which are the results of three training courses under the guidance of FEMMA experts. These action plans focus on addressing urgent local issues such as child marriage, gender stereotypes; fighting against gender-based violence, supporting livelihoods, increasing women’s participation in local socio-economic development activities… Based on the participants’ reports, 03 action plans were selected for financial support to deploy in the next phase.
